1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide to us

• Account information: when you sign in through Google with a verified Gmail account, we receive basic profile information such as your name, email address, and profile image (if available).
• Local garden data: plant names, species, photos, locations, watering schedules, notes, and care history are stored in your browser or app storage. PlantCare does not keep this garden content in its backend.
• AI inputs: a photo or question is sent transiently to the AI service only when you request identification or chat. The input and generated result are not retained in PlantCare's database.
• Support and feedback: information you provide when you contact us for support or send feedback.

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Shared allowance data: the backend keeps subscription status and counters for plant-identification and chat usage so web and Flutter share one balance.
• Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and error logs to help us diagnose issues and improve performance.
• Approximate location data: when you opt in, we use approximate location to fetch relevant weather and climate data for your plants. We do not use precise GPS tracking.

1.3 Information from third parties

• Authentication provider: Google and Firebase share the basic profile and token information needed to sign you in securely.
• Payment providers: our payment processor shares limited information about your subscription status, payment success or failure, and customer identifiers. We do not see or store your full payment card details.
• AI and weather providers: we may send anonymized or minimized data (such as plant attributes, weather data, or your questions) to AI or weather services to generate recommendations and insights.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the Plant Care Service.
• To authenticate you and secure your account.
• To generate plant care recommendations, watering schedules, and AI-powered insights tailored to your plants and local weather.
• To process subscription payments and manage your billing status.
• To enforce shared plan allowances and protect the Service from abuse.
• To communicate with you about updates, support, and important notices.
• To detect, prevent, and address security or technical issues and potential abuse.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EU/UK Users)

Where applicable data protection laws (such as the GDPR or UK GDPR) apply, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Contract: to provide the Service you have requested, including your Plant Care account and subscription features.
• Legitimate interests: to improve the Service, maintain security, prevent abuse, and understand how users interact with the app.
• Consent: for certain optional features, such as personalized communications or analytics where required by law.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as reasonably necessary to operate the Service or comply with legal obligations, including with:

• Service providers: such as authentication, hosting, payments, AI, and weather data providers, who process data on our behalf under appropriate data protection safeguards.
• Hosting and operational logs: limited request and error data needed to maintain reliability and investigate abuse.
• Legal and compliance: if required to comply with a legal obligation, enforce our Terms of Service, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Robopioneer, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or asset sale involving Robopioneer, subject to appropriate protections and notices as required by law.

5. International Transfers

Robopioneer is based in Canada, but some of our service providers may process data in other countries (including the United States and member states of the European Union). Where required by law, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) are in place when transferring personal data across borders.

6. Data Retention

Your local garden remains on your device until you delete it in the app or clear the app/browser storage. PlantCare retains account, subscription, payment-reference, and usage-counter records only as long as needed to provide the Service or meet security, dispute, tax, and legal obligations. AI operation records retain state and accounting metadata, not prompts, photos, chat text, or generated results.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may have certain rights over your personal data, including:

• Accessing and updating your account information.
• Copying or deleting your local garden from the Flutter privacy controls.
• Requesting deletion of certain data, subject to our need to retain information for legal or legitimate business purposes.
• Objecting to or restricting certain processing, where applicable under local data protection laws.
• Withdrawing consent for processing where we rely on consent (for example, for certain marketing or optional analytics).

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including secure communication channels and access controls. However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

9. Children's Privacy

Plant Care is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps to delete such data.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and analyze how the Service is used. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent, but some parts of the Service may not function properly without them.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not controlled by Robopioneer. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you visit or use.

12. Your Rights Under Canadian Law

As a company based in Canada, we seek to handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where applicable. Depending on your province of residence, additional provincial privacy laws may also apply.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
